Tbf Scots nationalism at least was a product of the disillusionment with .mainstream politics of the 70s (and oil) - you can argue that had Scotland had a Liverpool Liberal type organiser they'd have gone orange not yellow

(I believe in the 70s it was proposed that Britain have a resurgence in this but bad management and shit unions precluded that happening, so it went to Korea)
