Yes, it always makes sense to vote strategically. I suspect many in red states are already doing that:
- If there's a chance of a D winning the general, they might vote FOR the more extreme (less electable) R in the primary. It's risky.
- If not, they might vote for the most moderate R available.

This is why I did not like the Kimmel settlement -- because it made the story vanish from 99% of Americans' situational awareness, and it let ABC off the hook for coddling fascism. A missed opportunity to go on offense.

An interesting detail here: The county is thinking about rent relief for affected families. If that becomes an eviction moratorium -- as often happens after nat haz events -- landlords are going to feel it too, and that will change the political calculus ... hopefully in a good way.

Because "guns and religion" and "deplorables" were not just irritants. They were Kinsley gaffes: true then, and still true now.

What are the old truths going the other way? "Tax & spend liberal"? Ok, we own it. Calling us the "Democrat Party" still irritates some, but it's too dumb to argue over.

Not sure I understand your question, but it seems to be about industry opposition to S55?
S55 would categorize utility-scale BESS as "important" and therefore require better protection against high wind & EQ damage (cost increase ~ 0.3%). The PV & wind groups are trying to kill the proposal.

Yes, but 20 years after W, we might as well own it and defang the slur. "Democrat Party" is more natural & more modern.

But we should also say "Trump Party"* instead of Republican (and never "GOP"), and force them to own that.

* would also accept "Anti-Democracy Party" or "Insurrection Party."
