I guess this is a stupid question but why are lead levels so high? (I understand lack of FDA oversight, but where's the lead coming from? Irrigation systems? Toxic soil?) I mean, when you're 1000% over safe quantities, it's like they're dumping shovelfuls of lead dust in the vats.

One year ago today, NASA flagship Europa Clipper launched. Today, NASA JPL, which built it, fired another 500 people. (They've lost 25% of workers total.) We're sacrificing scientists and engineers to build concentration camps and gaudy White House ballrooms. NASA is in crisis. America is in crisis.

I'm reminded of a quote from Tom Wolfe. He said writing never got easier or faster for him. The only thing that changed was when he was at his lowest, he would look up, see the shelf of books with his name on it, and say, "Wolfe, you've done it before, and by God, you must be able to do it again."

You're a stronger person than me. My marked-up manuscripts are the one thing I can't seem to part with! I'll let my daughter figure out what to do with them when I'm dead. If she's sentimental, she won't be able to part with them either, and they will become this boat anchor for future generations.
