Bold regulation on privacy would actually do something the social media age ban won't do re @drwaus.bsky.social - it would challenge the business model of social media corporations that rapaciously acquire data to use it to advertise and keep you on platforms as long as possible.

Youth-focused anti-bullying organisation Project Rockit are saying the impact of the social media age ban on young people will be harsh - focus should be on the corporations pushing algorithms, not on young people

Survivors and victims of childhood sexual abuse deserve far better than this. No one who abused children, or who knowingly failed to protect children in their care, should still be honoured by our country, whether they are dead or alive. Justice demands this.

We're told the online age verification codes will prevent young people from seeing sexual or violent content but it's simply not true. Those searching in a logged out state can still search for this content.

Companies are going to be age checking all of us for nothing!

Had a great @greens.org.au bushwalking club walk this morning along Molonglo Gorge on Ngunnawal country just outside Queanbeyan. Lovely 7km back and forth with stunning views, just enough politics, lots of nature and chats.

The Attorney General's Department got 21 FOI requests about their FOI reforms - and they asked to do late replies for all of them and were rejected each time by the Information Commission. Talk about a broken system and they're trying to make it harder and more expensive!
