As I work on writing my book, I continue to read other musician’s biographies. Up next is drummer Jim Gordon. Besides Derek And The Dominoes, he was an in demand session player/sideman for many years and played on an incredible amount of big records until his mental illness took over. Tragic story.

Looking back at the run of shows I did with Tim Williams and Kevin Belzner in February. I enjoy playing with my band and also playing solo shows. This was a bit of a combination of the two, with Tim and I swapping songs back and forth. Lots of fun, and something different for us.

Back to songwriting today with the “Keef” 5 string tuning through my Bronco (essentially a Vibro Champ) and this bitchin’ Leslie simulator. I love the versatility. You can select the cabinet model, ramp speed, overdrive, and overall rotating speaker speeds. Plus it has a fantastic Univibe option!

Yasss! The big bonus of being the Thanksgiving Dinner host is endless leftover turkey sammiches! Ever since I was a kid, I love these. Simple as a pimple. Toasted grocery store bread, mayo (usually Dutch), cranbabies, sea salt and fresh ground Kampot pepper! The brined turkey seals the deal!

Time to brine the bird! I haven’t cooked a turkey for a few years, but it felt like the time was due. Local free range fowl. If I was super ambitious, I would deep fry it, but Imma do a traditional roast. Maybe tits down? Anyhoo, Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to EVERYONE!!

I have a feeling that it’s going to be an Elmore James day on Gogo Mountain. Today I’ve been figuring out which guitars he played. There is this weird little Silvertone, the big Kay acoustic with the DeArmond pickup, and what looks like a Kay electric. He used a Magnatone amp.

1935 National Trojan. I bought it from Ken Hamm (who has owned it twice). I believe Bill Johnson owned it for a bit. Paul Deslauriers is quite fond of it. I don’t really gig with her, but I wrote and recorded Sulphite Boogie on it. She’s a beaut!
