There it is. The first ever Heat Advisory issued in Alaska. This is the first year it has been an option. @alaskawx.bsky.social
I’m finding it all so frightening and the media coverage irresponsible. This is real life and extremely serious in many different ways and has implications for us all. Media needs to step up and do some serious impartial reporting now. But it won’t.
Interesting research. These are the top-emitting companies and the dollar amount academic researchers estimate they are responsible for:

Saudi Aramco: $2.05  trillion
Gazprom: $2  trillion
Chevron: $1.98  trillion
ExxonMobil: $1.91 trillion
BP: $1.45  trillion

I’m looking to speak with experts in the travel and tourism industry about how US tariffs - particularly on renewable energy components - could impact the sector’s sustainability goals. What does this mean for net-zero and carbon neutral targets in the US and globally? My email is [email protected]
Glaciers have melted at the most rapid rate on record in five of the past six years, @wmo-global.bsky.social said in a recent report. I spoke to Icelandic tourism businesses and Iceland's government about the impacts, as glaciers are important to travel and tourism there. skift.com/2025/03/31/i...
A lovely time with my new bike, the Brompton G Line. I’m on a mini adventure, bikepacking from London to the Cotswolds.
I spoke to Jayson Heynis this morning, a US tourist visiting Bangkok. He was on the top of floor the tallest hotel in Thailand, Baiyoke Sky Hotel, when the earthquake struck. He filmed this video before he was evacuated safely - along with other guests.
Well it’s lovely and quiet here in Brentford under the Heathrow flight path
Walt Disney World has closed more times due to hurricanes in the last 10 years than in its entire 54-year history. I analysed data from Disney and other sources. The trend is clear. Scientists warn that Florida faces an increasing threat from hurricanes. #Disney #Florida #Climatechange #hurricanes

Holiday Inn owner IHG says it will not meet its greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. Chief sustainability officer Catherine Dolton said the availability of renewables and a lack of national net zero policies are part of the reasons why. Full story here:

2024 was declared the hottest year on record and the travel industry is one of the biggest emitters of greenhouse gases. I asked leaders in the sector including at major hotel chain Radisson and airline Southwest. They say more needs to be done but are we seeing action? skift.com/2025/01/09/c...

I’ve taken on a new role after many years at the BBC. I’ll still be covering climate related issues but will focus on the travel and tourism sector at @skift.com. It’s projected this sector will be one of the biggest emitters in the future, if not already. So now is the time to dig in! ✈️🌍
Found this wildcamp spot up in the highlands above Loch Ness on the Great Glen Way. I bikepacked around the loch. Any fellow bikepackers out there?
