You’re right, and farmers, unlike the majority of people who try to pretend they don’t, are quite open about feeding them silage…for example

It’s attempted misdirection because their current line is failing.

The fact is that farmers farm for profit, not out of a sense of moral empathy…and this fool made it abundantly clear that I wasn’t wrong. Now they’re trying to shift away from it.

The beauty is that, the excuses you use to “justify“ your continued emissions, are really easy to use to convince others to continue fossil fuel use…I know this first hand.

Because as you already made clear, they’re not held accountable for their actions; which is one of the prerequisites for moral agency.

In much the same way you would be held accountable for killing an infant, but bears are not. Not by us and not by them.

No they don’t, they care about profit. You’re literally making that case right now.

No one can claim they have someone’s wellbeing in mind, when their ONLY objective is their exploitation. It’s like a sex trafficker saying they care about the welfare of their victims because they don’t cage them.

You’re 100% correct, it is a marketing strategy. The term means nothing. Those dairy farmers, for example, can happily use the “grass fed” label. The cows might never see the outside of a barn or paddock, but they’re still fed grass.

It‘s marketing bullshit that’s proven lucrative for farmers

Of course you will. The label is a bullshit ploy to try to convince consumers that their choices are morally acceptable, that’s it, nothing more.

If farmers can legally slap on a term that increases their profits, they ABSOLUTELY will. You’d be naive not to believe that.
