No, probably not, but inflation overall is really problematic for people. And most folks aren't making a ton of money either.

Good point for #SouthDakota economic development leaders to remember: "Since it doesn't take many people to operate a data center, once they're built, the facilities don't usually support many permanent jobs." www.npr.org/2025/10/14/n... #jobs #datacenters #economicdevelopment
Data centers are booming. But there are big energy and environmental risks
How tech companies and government officials handle local impacts will shape the industry's future in the U.S.

Yes, that is a good point - inflation has been a factor for several years. That increase happened over time, and this would be a one big increase, makes it hard to budget when it has this immediate impact. And that overall inflation is what makes this big increase harder to deal with for folks.

ICYMI: Enormous subsidies to the fossil fuel industry are just some of the many hideous elements of the GOP spending bill. The End Polluter Welfare Act would stop this injustice. Tell your Reps to support it: https://fwwat.ch/4meKK02

One company's data centers will consume as power as NYC & San Diego COMBINED. This is bad for our communities in so many ways. That kind of demand will raise our rates & strain the grid. Will you have power when you need it? #datacenters #rural #ratepayers

Expansion of AI data centers is bad news for our planet and for everyone who lives on it.
ryanmarino.bsky.social
OpenAI’s planned data centers will use more power than New York City & San Diego use at their peak consumption, combined. More power than the entire nations of Switzerland & Portugal combined. And San Altman’s buddies in this administration have been cutting all of our energy infrastructure upgrades

US soybean prices are down $1 from last year but #SouthDakota beans are down another 80 cents - $1.35. This is crushing for #farmers. Even if federal aid does come, will that help our state budget? Depressed crop prices hit sales tax revenue & the state budget shortfall is considerable #sdleg

Farmers are spending long days harvesting #soybeans this fall with no soybean purchases by China, due to the country's retaliation for President Trump's #tariffs. That's impacted prices, leaving farmers at the mercy of potential government assistance for the lost income.

It would be nice if admin would ditch the 45Q #taxcredits that pay for boondoggle projects like the proposed #CO2 #pipeline not just ban the words tax breaks, tax credits, & subsidies. Just hides the fact that that #taxpayers are paying billions to these companies www.politico.com/news/2025/09...
A screenshot from a Politico news story about the Department of Energy banning more words: "Other terms officials must ditch include "energy transition," "sustainability/sustainable," "'clean' or 'dirty' energy," "carbon/CO2 footprint," and "Tax breaks/tax credits/subsidies."
