"The Romanovs" by Simon Sebag Montefiore gets into it pretty heavily and all I can say is that it's super confusing. They were constantly using the Cossacks as mercenaries, then fighting the Cossacks, then trying to stop the Cossacks from fighting each other.

Really happy with this little guy. The stone came out so beautifully blue in the end, and the deer antler idea worked out great.

The problem, generally, is that our structure for law enforcement is extremely flawed. We shouldn't be electing a Sheriff, we should be electing a civilian oversight board. Sheriffs and police chiefs shouldn't be the ones making policy, they should be taking direction from a board.
