With this bike I discovered that I had total freedom.
This is what a bike gives you.

"What is the appeal of gravel biking?" they ask.

When Quebec is as rich as, and as small as, Suisse, then your comment will be less nonsensical.

You can individualize it, customize it, any way you want.

My dad had the very annoying habit of responding to new information with "Could be."

“Male myopia is why Banksy remains anonymous. If not, nearly half the world’s population would’ve gone blind to the sharp critiques and social commentary in an instant.”

Fascinating.

Banksy Is A Woman—And A Pissed Off One, Too
What the world mistakenly assumes about Banksy is the art’s most profound message.

Residents of Montreal over age 65 get free Montreal public transport.
Compared to price of a car (or just the insurance!), a monthly/annual public transport Opus pass is affordable. And FADOQ, SABEC, etc, exist.
A transportation utopia will never exist, but there are some options for everyone.

yes, I recognize that for medical or age reasons, some people can't drive.
And also cars are expensive, and that they are by far the most expensive bicycle accessory.
Our friends don't own a car. But they do use carshare like communauto. It's great and they love it and no parking hassles!
cyclefunmontreal.bsky.social
Do you mean "those who won't drive"?
Do they expect other people to drive them everywhere, for all their life?
That seems selfish and non self-reliant.

November is coming and is your front fender long enough to prevent your shoes from getting wet when you ride through puddles?
If it isn't, it is quite easy to fix it yourself.

I've seen a bald eagle exactly one time in the wild in Quebec and that day I had a camera with me.
Whenever I pass this tree near Dewittville I look up but lightning doesn't strike twice.

just want to say that I recognize and appreciate very much how you make the effort to add *solid factual information* to many internet discussions. I would even say it's unparalleled.

Montreal city hall.
The balcony above the entrance is where de Gaulle made his famous speech from.
Fun fact: the next day Canada told him to GTFO.

Independence and freedom are bad for kids, many parents say.
cyclefunmontreal.bsky.social
They have their point of view, which is not at all wrong, & I have my point of view, which is also not wrong, which mainly comes down to "Team sports are bad for kids development of independence and freedom."
I recognize that my point of view is contrary to a social need to conform to a group norm.

Plastic people in plastic clothes on plastic bikes riding on plastic roads.

It IS an improvement from the prison-esque high fences to keep the kids inside against their will that surrounded the old sports field.
cyclefunmontreal.bsky.social
Amazing how nice a sports field you can build for $12 million dollars.
Everything green on the field is plastic.🤮

Always wonder why these mayors don't consider safe cycling routes also a priority?
Cavendish street extension will take decades & 100s of millions of dollars.
REV bike lanes in Montreal's west end will cot a couple of million $ maximum, bring benefits to all citizens, incl car drivers!

You can do all these things via miracle of autoroutes & regional highways.
You don't need to own a car, carshare Communauto is your ticket to freedom.
You can transfer your desire to benefit from gov't subsidy for regional rail to gov't subsidy on roads. You'd be crazy not to take that free money.

And it is still one of the engines driving the region's economy.
