Many of us on the coasts are transplants. Liberals who fled middle America. We don’t think we are elite. We know very well maga is not all you have in small towns. And believe it or not coastal liberals are not all rich.

I don’t live in NYC, but I believe there is a rent board (controlled by the Mayor’s office) that covers these units. They can freeze current rents while still imposing standards. Absolutely more innovation must happen across the country to stabilize and to make good housing affordable.
