“Orlando had become a woman… Their change of sex, though it altered their future, did nothing whatever to alter their identity… but in future we must, for convention’s sake, say ‘her’ for ‘his’ and ‘she’ for ‘he’.”

Virginia Woolf having no problems with pronouns in 1928.

The excellent review in The Conversation is not by me; it's by @bethjohnsontv.bsky.social, an expert on Sally Wainwright's work. Check out the book on Wainwright she published with Kristyn Gorton:

That doesn't mean that I haven't accidentally misgendered people, even if they were sharing their preferred pronouns. I'm not proud of it, but it happens.
ctimmermann.bsky.social
I'm a Generation X cis male presenting as a cis male; discussing pronouns feels like a fairly recent thing for me. It doesn't hurt to include a he/him in email signatures etc, and normalising this to help others to not get misgendered is a good thing, so I'm doing it. #InternationalPronounsDay

I am They/Them, but don't mind He/They too much, and fully understand why people would automatically default to He/Him so don't get annoyed when it is a genuine mistake, I do when they continue if, and I rarely do offline, I have corrected them.

I'm She/Her, but I don't mind being They/Them either.

It's so simple and doesn't cause anyone any harm.

Unexpectedly, there's an 'education focused' job in HPS at Sydney! At snr lecturer/assoc prof level, which means associate professor in US terms. You'll need to scan down below ruminant science etc to see it, though (perhaps a message there?):

Q for UK #skystorians - has anyone who is NOT AN ECR won a 'traditional' style grant recently, e.g. pays for your time & expenses to go to archives/do oral history, write up findings, run a workshop for colleagues, do small amount of community feedback/forward and/or public engagement, or similar?

For reasons, it would be v. helpful to have information from a broad range of academic and non-academic (incl. GLAM) users of the BBC Written Archives OTHER THAN historians, briefly on: 1) What you've used it for and 2) How the proposed changes would impact on your research.
