“Social media is at its worst, a hyperbolic echo chamber that sucks energy out with every toxic post. No one knows better than Jasprit Bumrah that the journey from deification to vilification is an infinitesimally short one.”

It’s England vs India – The Decider, in podcast form. Who comes out on top? Is it the Bazballing #BishopandBear, or feisty Indian partnership @cricwriter.bsky.social and Raj Patel

Judging past novels and authors on current sensibilities is a tough one. 50-years hence there will be so many things that they won’t accept which are “normal” today. My approach to books is to accept language and descriptions in the context of the time the author wrote and enjoy the writing & plot.

111 Years Ago Today: War Declared By All
Pakistan’s massive oil reserves 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
In 2021 in Australia India saved the Sydney Test then conquered the Gabba. Will the script repeat with Oval following Old Trafford ? I also revisit the drama at the end at Manchester. #INDvENG

If Old Trafford was SCG, can India make Oval its new Gabba?
As ENGvIND 2025 moves to a final showdown, the series is poised for a finish as entertaining as AUSvIND 2021

“The final result notwithstanding, this is turning out to be a transformational series for Indian cricket, and one that gives immense hope for the future of the format in India.“

My take on the tour for India thus far including the Lord’s Test & the future.

Lord's could be the pivot that India needed
The Third Test of the Eng v Ind 2025 series was more than just a match – it was a statement of intent, resilience, and rising potential.

In this piece I explore failure at the highest level in sport (with focus on Anisimova’s loss at Wimbledon) and the mindset it takes to turn things around. And how elite athletes and high performers come out of it stronger.

The loneliest arena in sport
The Amanda Anisimova Wimbledon loss made it painfully clear that the pursuit of greatness in sport can be very lonely.

“Over six heady months of 1971, Indian cricket threw away the shackles of infancy that had held her prisoner for four decades, and stepped decisively into adulthood.

#Thread 1/5 : It is 47-years to the date Vietnamese troops rode into Cambodia and uprooted the #PolPot regime, perpetrator of the worst atrocities since #Hitler. I decided to visit the #GenocideMuseum in #PhnomPenh to mark the occasion. This used to be a school before it became a place of horrors.
