I agree. And I don't blame an exhausted population, dragged down by years of austerity, faced with a decision of enormous complexity and plenty of manipulation for the decision they made, championed by perhaps the worst modern British prime minister. That said I have heard from some fucking idiots

Actually, I am surprised the referendum was lost by as little as it was, given how many ostensibly pro EU politicians seemed to use the EU as a scapegoat for unpopular UK decisions - while taking credit for popular European policies

He was privately campaigning to end tuition fees and introduce loans I think back as far as 2006. @pimlicat may be able to confirm.
I may say, I find him the most unutterable bounded. Though it often surprises me how many fuutcakes started off in libdems and or Greens - Paul Marshall, Liz Truss.

At some point, the concept of a conference bounce will have to die.

I don't know how much more evidence of a diconnect between breathless write-ups of 'gamechanging' conference speeches and the reality you need. For the big four, not a single statistically significant change in standing.
