And obviously Karin was spending 1924 drying Goring out after his injury in the Putsch. There are limits to how many kind things I can say about her, but some things were NO.

My impression is that his drug habit was very much a late in life thing.

I think it's just that his charisma worked better in small oral doses than the long written form. It's like a 30 minute TV show crew trying to make a 2 hour movie, their rhythm can sometimes be hard to find.

His five years in Landsberg were a very hard nine months for Hitler, and the brutal horror of prison life must have made it very hard for him to concentrate. Due credit to Hess for polishing it into something as readable as it was because I'm sure it started off worse. Just look at the suffering.

Left to right, Hitler, no idea, Hermann Knebel, Rudolf Hess, no idea. The three on the right are wearing suits, the two on the left the classic lederhosen outfit. While they are in prison, this photo would not be out of place in a bar.

I've read all of Mein Kampf. I couldn't recommend it on the merits as I couldn't identify any merits, but it has some value in trying to understand fascism. Even with that motivation, it is a *slog* to get to the end of that vile gibberish.

That said, in many ways it compares well to a Trump rant.
