Well the Campbell ACT scout hall was frigging cold in winter so we did keep warm activities. For survival. All crowded in to the kitchen. Anzac eve sleepover to walk them up AWM for dawn service was thermal underwear time. As was staying at cement floored blue range hut in the Brindabella in winter

Wish I could remember all the names they gave and ingredients they brought but it was a blast. And we did damper too on the fireplace and the parents got some at pickup too. That soup had everything known to man in it. Veggie and meat. Someone bought a leftover rissole. That was good.

Nope but damper is infinitely tweakable.

Ask me about stone soup made during winter meetings. Lolz. I had the stone. Kids supplied the ingredients. I tweaked with stock. Abalone mushrooms were goblin ears. Noodles were worms. All ingredients had a gross name and the kids helped. Each one got grosser but the soup was frigging delicious

Too many years of married to a chef and as a scout and cub leafer Damper wrapped camebert and strawberry jam is the bomb btw

Oh God. I'd kill for hollow logs. Some councils have been shamed into saving them and making them into nesting sites on kept trees. Talk to local whoever you can. Habitat ...,
crankygrandma55.bsky.social
Oh God. Save the birds nest and staghorns. Check for teeny tree and ground orchids. Councils can suck. Our put " drainage" in a frog habitat and destroyed the spawning ponds

You should try it with a tiny drizzle of malt syrup in the dough. Perfection
crankygrandma55.bsky.social
It's got to have a lot of syrup or slathers of butter and jam. I used to coil it around plumrose canned franks and bake as a dough dog on a stick. (Old cub leader here)

#knitsky the mere word steek makes me cringe. Kudos to those who can and do.
crankygrandma55.bsky.social
Lots of powdered milk and a bit of baking powder. Grated parmesan and pepper for a savoury one.

I love the whole concept of this blanket.

We were poor. Grew up with foraged mushrooms, caught yabbies in farm dams lobster in the Murray and ate rabbit a lot.

Take nothing but photos leave nothing but footprints
crankygrandma55.bsky.social
Oo I have a great damper recipe.

Just buy as you need. Although there are some good kits on Temu etc.
