Sometimes literary criticism is more fun to read than the literature it’s criticising.

Reinventing conferences:

Organisers agree to produce a programme to show to your home institution for money but when you get there it’s all just coffee breaks, lunches, and wine receptions and there’s a room where you can do your paper if you really want to.

Reinventing conferences:

All talks begin with mandatory words: "This is part of a larger project I'll never finish."

Instead of coffee breaks, you get randomly assigned to a group where someone inevitably argues that Aristotle already solved your problem.

While the Call for Papers for our annual conference may be closed, we are still open to submissions for our Journal!

JAEMA publishes scholarly articles on the Late Antique and Early Medieval world, see our website for details: aema.org.au/journal/
This call for submissions states that the Journal of the Australian Early Medieval Association seeks submissions of scholarly articles on the early medieval period and late antiquity, from anywhere around the globe, between the fall of the Roman Empire and the end of the eleventh century. The Journal of the Australian Early Medieval Association publishes articles that appeal to those interested in our period, whether these are focused on the historical, political, social, literary, cultural, religious, ethnic, geographic, and interpretive crossovers between.

There’s lots of knopper galls out on the oak trees at the moment - where gall wasps have laid their eggs inside of developing acorns. These interesting shapes are good for making #irongallink, but they are very sticky!
