You posted "In any discussion of food and farming, unless your solution can be scaled to feed 8 billion people, you shouldn't be taken seriously." That's what I was reacting to.

That doesn't help, particularly if the "system" is singular. A system with an appropriate number of diverse components is not "a system". You feed 8bn people by adding them together over a variety of foods, production conditions, seasons, etc, to provide appropriate diets as well as quantities.

I did read most of it. It seems to be mainly a criticism of advocates of "tradition". I didn't see any solution (singular) for feeding 8bn people, but I might have missed it.

Sorry? You're saying that any single solution to food and farming has to be scaled to feed 8 billion people? Everywhere? All types of food? All types of climate and land? One size fits all?

That's not why I'm on BlueSky. There are enough news outlets on here to provide useful information and tell us what the arguments are. There are also plenty of other platforms and media. Use them too. No need to use a platform whose owner spreads misinformation and stirs up violence and hatred.

the so-called "posting to policy pipeline" is an absolutely ludicrous way to run a pub, let alone a country

'Well – no. Bluesky may or may not be, as one ... friend who felt unwelcome put it, “self-righteous island”. But the idea that’s why we went is nonsense.'

My reason was simpler. I can't stand X's owner + Bluesky had momentum. I'm under no illusion about toxicity on any platform. It's human nature.

Japan's ruling coalition collapsed on Friday after its junior partner Komeito quit, raising doubts about whether conservative Sanae Takaichi will become the country's first female prime minister.
Why Japan's coalition collapsed — and what's next
In an upcoming vote in parliament, all parties are expected to put forward their leaders in a first round of voting, with LDP chief Sanae Takaichi likely bound for a runoff.
