My selection of mods for Gran Turismo 2000 is now out! I've extracted every bit of replayability from this Festival demo - with a car selection feature offering a roster of 6 cars, proper widescreen, modern controls, and more. Enjoy "GT2 on PS2" fully!

...oh no, that's not for cleaning tonight.

I'm getting a newfound appreciation for the Render Scale option in Yakuza games - 4K output, 50% Render Scale means I get 4K UI and 1080p gameplay on a docked LCD Steam Deck 😍

I remember hearing from @minimme.bsky.social that the same person who directed cutscenes for The Getaway later worked on 24: The Game, so that's another idea for a "cinematic" PS2 game if you're up for it later!

So many demos, so little time

Probably just changed the render target format to something that still works

Fun CarX facts: CarX Drift Racing Online 2 Demo is internally named "CarX Drift Racing 3", yet CarX Street was NOT "CarX Drift Racing 2".

Meanwhile, the drift CarX Drift Online is just Drift Online, so looks like they got inspired by Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift's naming conventions.

Window shopping in the User Car Dealerships is more fun than I remember.

So @iracing.com Arcade Demo, just as expected, is pretty much Circuit Superstars with a chase camera and licensed content. It's stingy with content even for demo standards (1 car, 1 race). If you liked CS, you'll probably like this too - otherwise, I can foresee some mixed feedback.
cookieplmonster.bsky.social
Unsuprisingly, iRacing Arcade is so heavily based on Circuit Superstars it even ships... a random wallpaper from CS in the game file, right there in plain sight.

I checked my SteamDB stats at virtually the best possible moment

Following my yesterday's impressions, FLOW got updated with balancing changes and fixes for ALL bugs I reported! Score no longer resets like it used to, and the required scores got rebalanced. Thanks to this I could now try more tracks and cars!
Great response to feedback so far!

lol it's fun how diligent the kill plane is here, the car respawns back on the track the second it clips under the ground level. Usually games let you fall down for a few seconds at least.

The game is also quite glitchy, and the AI can be... weird at times. In this clip, the AI successfully acts like an average player in a multiplayer race.
cookieplmonster.bsky.social
Then, in the second half, you're required to follow the AI and get more points for drifting close for them, but the AI never waits for you, so once again a single mistake ruins your chances. It may be a skill issue on my end, but I'm not the only one, and... it's the first stage.
cookieplmonster.bsky.social
The game advertises itself to be chill, but it's the total opposite: It requires you to score a single continuous drift for an ENTIRE 3-4 stage, and if you break the drift anywhere, it's zeroed (not saved as "best drift"!). A single mistake can result in the total score of 0.

I bought and tried FLOW. Let's start with the positives: The handling model is weird at first, but turns out to be nice and tuned for long, easy drifts! The car roster and customization is impressive! The photo mode rocks! However, I can't show most of the content for one reason: Scoring.

On one side of Steam, you have legitimate indie games with 2 reviews; on the other, you have "example game uploaded to Steam with a custom name" junk that has more reviews than that. At least this garbage is no longer available for purchase, good riddance.
cookieplmonster.bsky.social
When I shared them on Twitter last night, I was on my phone and didn't even notice the dithering - I feel like they would also look great without any, leaning more on that Glide look.

Reposting some goodness from Twitter, as the artist evgeniy doesn't seem to have bsky presence, but his Driver-like cars modelled for a game he's working on are simply too good to ignore:

If you complete Rally de Africa, apparently wildlife makes a cameo appearance??
cookieplmonster.bsky.social
FLOW looks interesting from the screenshots and the description, but I heard literally nothing about the game - only 2 reviews, zero social presence other than a few YT shorts, nothing else. I haven't tried it, at least not yet.

To my knowledge, no, sadly.

Everyone says Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2025 is great, it's time I give it a try too.
