My Belarusian-born middle school classmate: barely visited Belarus ever, says Belarus has great healthcare, western police are very violent? Yes ofc Lukashenko is a dictator, but you haven't been to Belarus. Life is great.
Although true, he could basically do anything and SCOTUS wouldn't stop him. So institutional reform has priority over that act I would say.
You're missing that immigrants are the ones who build new houses.
This case is infuriating. So Poland ignored ECHR ruling and its own courts?
I might be incorrect, but this sort of secret court thing always makes me think: "only in the US"...

Reminds me of all the national security related courts regarding for example Guantanamo.
Any articles on Hollande that you'd suggest reading? I don't really follow/know why you consider his presidency pathetic.
Not commenting on the truthfulness of either statement, but your tone was fine I guess. So ignore the other dude.
"The amount of stuff we need to dig up in order to solarize the planet is equal to one seventeenth of the fossil fuels we dig up every year. "

I think you should correct your post.

Congrats. Did this tattoo thing relate to nazi insignia, to be clear?
Jeez I knew there was someone I know he was starting to resemble. Damn
No need for palantir et Al to be involved tho
I agree with everything and maybe it's not the right political moment for ID cards given his unpopularity, but there are ID cards almost everywhere and it's not a big deal at all. It's not unprogressive.
I'd just like to add that I'm happy to see people whose opinions I respect commenting negatively on the Blair news. Made me feel like I'm going crazy.
I'm nothing close to an expert on middle east matters, but Tony Blair and his closeness to gulf oil money made things rather weird for me. I suppose maybe other things like Iraq are more important to the judging this hypothetical pick. But a politicised white dude in Gaza? Wtf. Not even a diplomat.
Could you give more context? thanks!
This business as usual refers to a lack of action on inequality stemming from the financial crash?

I find this seemingly common reading that Polanyi says you have to be nice to the far right completely bizarre - he specifically argues that instead of the rise of a mass movement it's the capitulation of democratic forces in the face of institutional deadlock and failure that lets the fascists in!
Extremely interesting points.

Aside: family members of mine talk about Hitler being democratically elected. Ignoring the militia violence, the intimidation of opposition meeting and physical presence at polling stations as examples. Plus Hitler didn't even win a majority.
North Korea is distinct from this
