This shines a light on how the media amplifies the wrong stories... on purpose, of course, distorting national priorities for political gain [and more clicks].
There is no need for a moral panic about the UK's welfare system.

Far from perfect but recent discourse is nuts

Spending is controlled, not spiralling

Worklessness is near record lows

Bobby G's Bucks Fizz have been touring for decades and all the members have been in the group decades longer than the original lineup.
Absolutely. They've left Tiverton in a dire state. Lives are at stake.
At a macro level, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer under far right governance. That doesn't bode well for those in our communities who are essentially voting for a worse future for themselves.
Well he's councillor for Tiverton East, and I'm councillor for Tiverton West - and I'm the one sitting on Children's Scrutiny committee 😀
Anita Anand said 'normalcy' on Radio 4 this week. Which must mean they're using ChatGPT to draft scripts.

In Barnstaple today, we sent a clear message:

We reject Trump’s America and we reject Nigel Farage’s vision of Britain.

Hate has no home here.
We all feel that not enough has been done to hold water companies to account for pollution and lack of investment. Paying more for long-time failures is a bitter pill.
Time after time, water firms like Wessex Water increase their prices while failing consumers - and now the regulator has been completely outmanoeuvred.

The Govt must move swiftly to replace Ofwat with a stronger regulator.

Consumers deserve so much better than this.

"Beginning to hear"? He hasn't been listening for the last few years.
Surely this is a matter for the Labour government? It seems odd to me that they sit on their hands like they do with BBC bias.
Is no one concerned about Jenrick wanting a 'new order'? Isn't that blatant nazi signalling? I don't see Conservatives diving for their copies of Blue Monday.
They’ll usually ask you to make a “No Licence Needed” declaration. You can do this online on the TV Licensing website

They may send an officer to check, but you don’t have to let them in without a warrant (and warrants are rare).
As a copywriter, I have to say this is very poor from the Conversatives.
Another astonishing sign of incredible incompetence from the UK Conservatives. They can’t even get right the name of the country they want to represent.

“Clever, isn’t he?”

From the new Private Eye, out now.
The backlog is in excess of £300m. That says everything when the capital budget per annum is £80m.
So Brexit Party and Reform are LITERALLY the same party. A great thread as ever.
There seems to be some *confusion*
among Reform supporters over Nathan Gill being one of them

“But, but, Reform didn’t exist when he took his Russian bribes”

“But, but he was in UKIP”

“But, but it has nothing to do with Farage, he barely knew the guy”

So here’s a little history lesson 👍🏼🧵

Science is wonderful.
Curiosity calls for science.

Making sense of spaghetti physics: "Why does the strand break like that?"

Is that leaflet ignoring Reform?
Starmer says everyone in the UK will be required to have mandatory digital ID. That’s not the kind of country we want to be. Lib Dems have always stood up for people’s freedom and privacy, back our petition to say no to digital ID cards. Our national petition: www.libdems.org.uk/nodigitalid.

Chris Mason has forgotten to mention that in his latest piece on Ed Davey's speech for the BBC, instead quoting the BBC statement on lack of bias and mentioning Farage more times than Ed Davey.
Why is this absent from BBC and Sky?? Trump attacks Britain at UN just days after state visit including lies about Sadiq Khan

Something for a newsnight investigation? Why is this at the top of the BBC news page? Is this not simply right wing propaganda pretending to be news?
Should be worth watching.
Catch Eye hack Richard Brooks tonight on ITV1 in The Covid Contracts: Follow the Money.

The documentary tells the story of how some companies with little or no track record in supplying PPE or medical tests were given massive contracts - and made a killing from Covid.
