Hi all. I’m at the emergency vet with my old girl Iris this morning and I know that’s going to cost me at least half my SSDI check that just came Friday no matter what the issue is.

Finally seen by the vet and have a rough cost estimate.

Exam: $280
Blood work: $400
Fluids: $400 plus an anti-nausea med or possible antibiotics.

Looking at the neighborhood of $1000-1200 for this visit which is over 50% of my monthly income.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. 🌻

Total cost was $928 which was slightly less than I was expecting but still means I will not be able to pay my bills this month.

The total came to $928 which is about 50% of my monthly disability check meaning I will need support to make it through the rest of this check cycle.

Any share or any amount you can chip in to offset this cost would be very appreciated.

In February we’ll have had Iris for 9 of her 11+ years of life and my partner has her name tattooed over his eyebrow. She’s our best girl and she always seems to get sick on weekends when the regular vet is not open.

Honestly, it’s exhausting that people think Gazans should only ask for help to survive to eat, to stay alive but not to dream, to study, or to rebuild their lives. Wanting education, safety, and a future isn’t greed. It’s being human.

Thank you to S for $20 toward my short goal of writing a $100 check to my township at the town meeting tonight.

Could use $65 more to cover the plowing costs and then anything beyond that will be used to cover gas and groceries for the next 14 days.

As we’ve settled into actual housing again and therefore our bills have increased, I just don’t receive enough in SSDI to meet all of our monthly expenses. My check is our only income a lot of the time and it’s just not enough.
