Something I haven't seen covered extensively with regards to the Department of Education is the fact that the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA) funds early intervention services, along with Medicaid. EI is usually free, or very low cost for families.

I would be one of the Barren Whore Surcharge payers but the reality is I pay school taxes because I want to live in a community with good schools. I am not donating the money -- it's a property investment. I wish school taxes were not tied to property but that's another problem.
