He’s angry with Bart yeah (albeit I did tweak the reason for the story), but also? He’s *playing*. This is fun for him! And I think I captured that.

Because like, for all that the depiction of Id is very consistent with “oh wow they read the DSM-4”, it’s not until his last scenes that we’re allowed to actually understand who Id is

He’s a kid. He’s just a kid who spent so long lashing out to protect himself it’s the only language he knows

Because in this part of Xenogears, Id… isn’t really his own character just yet. They’re trying to walk this line of adding lots of clues he’s Fei, but also letting that slide in favor of mystery and menace. Like he doesn’t name himself yet, or show his portrait

Which leaves no room for character

As in Xenogears, this is basically the end of Act 1. Unlike Xenogears, Fei's not the main character, so we'll be following the larger part of our heroes for a while.

What's to come in Act 2? Well if you know what show talks alot about Bosons, you'll have a hint

As a game, it’s just worse to play than the NES Dragon Quest games it’s cribbing from. Way longer of a windup before you get your party and good abilities and way less satisfying upgrades and treasure hunting

I've had Gundam on the mind lately so an unoriginal thought.

It's so weird to have on one side twenty-odd years of shows stretched out to 50 episodes that wanted maybe 40, and on the other shows with 12 that wanted 20 or 24 that wanted 30. And it was such an overnight shift too!

This isn’t quite as weird as it sounds, I also wanna do a fic with her. It occurred to me that my “Fodlan’s first journalist” idea from a while back could also be a foundation for her alternate modern day self that would flesh out that story very nicely. Underground journalist/propagandist is handy!
