All true. It's worth talking about, also, that she's now 35; + what she writes + sings must by necessity begin to change for that. It's gonna be tricky, + some fans may drop away. A culture obsessed with youth or old age doesn't know what to do with someone who's in between, however well known.

Fun shots of big-time sumo wrestlers in London, for a rare exhibition outside Japan.
Bags are very important to sumo rikishi; as their yukata (robes) have no pockets to carry their stuff in. The top guys like designer/expensive ones, tho' they often have attendants (tsukebito) to carry those.

Hi. You're on the Cleveland feed rn, so there's a lot of us here.

Sorta. Rivals, yes; but they're close in age, live very similar daily lives in a very unique cultural/occupational society in one city, + are members of a very exclusive 'club' at the top of their sport.
Their differences are far outnumbered by their similarities.
Hard to be 'bitter' with that.

Bitter rivals and arch foes?
The yokozuna(s) at a press conference this morning in London, October 13.

No, it's pretty clear he's a "stopgap" measure for any team at this point.
Which is fine, he's good at that; even if not much else.
Like I said, we wish him well; but here in Cleveland, the kids gotta get in the moshpit.
Kitten time is over.

They are, but they're getting blizzarded with flak from all corners.
Some important ethnic-community weekly music shows are on WCSB; + those folks dont like that they're off.
Even City Councilmen are on their case over this. Ain't goin' well for the culture thieves.

The one in Malaysia, that he hasn't left in years?
clebsaints.bsky.social
Are they gonna build the dohyo, as they do in Japan?
And from what?
Hard to find good tawara rice-bales in London...

"Quiet" is the last thing this city's soul is gonna be, about this cultural vandalism.
CSU's President and "ideaslime" are already hearing far more than they wished about it.

"The university's decision to shut down WCSB silences more than a station — it quiets a piece of the city's soul."

If it helps, no one listens to him here.
All his billboard money will be wasted.

Flacco was, surprisingly, the right man for the job when he came here.
He won over a lot of Browns fans used to seeing him as "the enemy".
Now the job in Cleveland is different.
He's the right man for Cincy's job now.
clebsaints.bsky.social
Glad he's still with us. He's been through some stuff.

Konosuke is a paragon of dignity, both in nd out of the sumo ring.
Glad they sent him to London.

The 'jungyo tour' referenced is kind of a traveling roadshow between tournaments; where they go to smaller cities' central arenas and do practice demonstrations, fun things like demonstrating how their hair gets styled by their stable stylists, and sing "jinku" songs; some 100s of years old.
clebsaints.bsky.social
They do have a lot of great songs, yes; but "Rooster" added an extra dimension to their songwriting, + the imagery in it struck a lot deeper than their other work.
clebsaints.bsky.social
A fun random thing is that many sumo wrestlers are also fine singers, who occasionally show their talent on 'jungyo' tour, as well as on TV singing shows and commercials.
This man here (now retired from fighting, "Oyakata" means "Coach"), is one of the greatest.

It was probably their finest moment, ngl.

Of the women we know who love AIC (about 30 of them), 60% call "Rooster" their favorite song. The rest are all over the discography; with "Nutshell" being the most-often cited among them.
