My parents' generation was super racist, but they took pains to hide it from us. So a lot of young conservatives in the 90s and early aughts were earnest small government and/or evangelical types.

As I said, the overt racists and radicals had to form their own orgs.

A thing I've noticed about white people's culture is that there is so much passive aggression, snideness, and other forms of subtle hits/abuse that it's hard for them to recognize malicious intent.

Rather than being experts at it, they assume love because otherwise no one has truly loved them.

Re LRP yeah the contents of the Politico chat just are turned into euphemisms like “edgy” humor and “provocative” statements by the press. The coverage sands off the edges of what they’re clearly nodding towards, and the people who are targeted with slurs are held out as unreasonable and biased.

Remember, according to the Republican Justices, it's okay to gerrymander for party advantage, not racial advantage. It's an unknowable distinction, but one that allows the Republicans to okay racist gerrymandering under the guise of political gerrymandering.

2) As I recall, there was no discussion of the substance of some of the conservative students’ beliefs. Not all conservative students are racists & anti-Semites. Not all liberal students are non-racists & non anti-semites. BUT, consider this story when we think of those previous articles.
