I hope she’s comfortable now Amanda, and you get some peace of mind soon xx
Great talk, and Rupert’s book ‘What Remains’ is a must read.

Really delighted that my image was featured in this wonderful publication by @dartmoorcollective.org
The idea behind the brief for Flow was to create a theme that was open to wide interpretation but which would inspire artists to look beneath the surface of Dartmoor and explore how it is shaped as a landscape - by people, time, weather and water...

A fabulous new zine.
Beautifully designed and with a great selection of thoughtful imagery.

"What are the roots that clutch, what branches grow
Out of this stony rubbish? Son of man,
You cannot say, or guess, for you know only
A heap of broken images,..."
(The work @dartmoorcollective.org do with amateur, emerging and professional artists is fabulous, take a look.) (Apologies to Eliot.)
Brief clip of a (very) short film I've done based on the @dartmoorcollective.org Flow brief and which I'll be showing at next week's zine launch.

Bit of an experiment this - mixing up video footage taken on the moor over a 2 year period with a layered synth sequence and ambient drone.

Getting down to some drawing this afternoon.

Using ink pen to draw the trees on top of the monotypes I made a couple of weeks ago.

Inspired by a beautifully misty area in the trees near Burrator, Devon.

Nearly there, I think….

Need some help #Dartmoor and #Devon friends...

We're looking for a suitable venue for the forthcoming @dartmoorcollective.org Flow zine launch.

Ideally somewhere Dartmoor adjacent but easily accessible from Plymouth / Exeter capable of accommodating 30+ people.

Any ideas most welcome.

Ellen Thesleff's self portrait of 1895, goes beyond a depiction of outward appearances and conveys the enigma of the artist who helped introduce Impressionism to Finland; she regarded herself as a poet with a brush, always trying to capture what she called 'the dream of life.'
Got my printing press out for the first time this year!

Spent a few lovely hours looking at ideas & making 3 Dartmoor inspired monotypes.

Once they are dry, I will draw trees on the top with ink pen.

The wide landscape will then be brought in to a more intimate view.🤞

The faded images & text are inkjet printed separately on top of each other, & double sided, which was a bit tricky. Just got the covers to cut, fold & stitch. I’ve made 8, so should finish today.
Trouble is, I have more ideas….!😂
Thanks Rachel, yours too!😁
It’s a small (6 page A6) hand made artist’s book, on the theme of Dartmoor. I’ve extracted text from other sources to create a short ‘poem’. I’m using old collagraph prints to make the cover. The inside features faded images of monotypes I made a while ago.😁
Thanks Jackie. Yours too!
Thank you Shona.
I hope to do a bigger one, but I might run out of focus/time as I’m making a book for the Wales Artists Book Fair next weekend.🤞
Thank you Bryan.
It’s been great to see everyone’s drawings.
The finished biro drawing of the ancient oak in Bluebell Woods, Plymouth.

The last for #drawingaugust

It’s been great to see all the drawings people have contributed for the month, especially on this platform.

Looking forward to next year already!😉😁👍✏️

A little further on with the Ancient Oak drawing.

Thanks Shona. I’m thinking of working a larger one, A3 or perhaps bigger.
I’m loving the free flowing marks with the biro, making my drawings less controlled.
