She must have been a wonderful person. To this day when they ask people who knew her to speak of her, they all still tear up. I can only hope to have that impact on people.

We didn't learn our lesson here....

I can sing many of the songs at a moments noticed if asked..... It left an impression.

All of Me (1984) Dir. Carl Reiner – Remember when they made funny mid-budget comedies? This one is a true gem. Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin are perfect together, delivering impeccable timing and physical comedy. Body-switch hijinks have never felt this charming-or well-played. A must see. 🎞️📽️🎬

I'll sneak the VHS in for the party. Your mom will never know if we keep the volume low.

We've got our plot. Not to write....

So much better then people seem to think. Worth the trip.

Phyllis, MASH then Police Woman- What a night. I shall sit on the orange shag carpet for a better view.

Dragonslayer (1981) Dir. Matthew Robbins – Long live Vermithrax Pejorative! In a medieval kingdom, a young wizard’s apprentice must defeat a fearsome dragon terrorizing the land. Stunning effects by Phil Tippett & ILM elevate this fantasy adventure into something truly magical. Amazing dragon.🎞️📽️

I haven't seen Roofman but I will double the sentiment. When did the cinema only become for silly tentpole films or limited run Oscar bait. What happed to all the mid-budget adult films. I believe there are still adults in the world? What about comedy ?

We should get on that..... Ideally in one episode they could join forces to help poor Catherine Sloper out of her father's house on Washington Square.

Agreed, each is its own thing and I find is wonderful and amazing that each managed to stake out and define its own individual territory. I never confuse them....

Love all four of these films. The ad for Carrie is crazy. Apparently she is capable of putting a curse on the general public.. Who knew.

Back in another life I studied the novel. It remains one of my favorites.... I always had a soft spot for the plight of Lily Bart.
I used to imagine a world where she was friends with Isabelle Archer and they decided to go Thelma and Louise and strike out on their own.

Great film....even with Kirk making sure we know how virile and flexible he is.....

We are in agreement here. I often say he has great ideas and technical prowess- but ( for me only as I know many love him) lacks a real human touch or scriptwriting ability.

Wonderful film and Shelly is just brilliant in it..... we lost her much too soon.

I love this film, and it gave me a great cinema memory. I took about 4 friends to see it one evening- by the end of the film, they had left to go to a restaurant across the street. I happily finished the film. Art is subjective.

Well, into the 70's as well- I mean the Million Dollar Duck was not going for edgy... That being said, as a kid I remember Escape from Witch Mountain disturbing me a bit....

Her acting is what made all the difference for this film....

Good to hear. I guess Disney was doing edgy before the early 80's

It's the film that started my support of films that did not do well or just went away- is it any wonder I was the annoying video store guy in the mid-80's with the odd recommendations.
