Please remind us who the domestic terrorists are again.
Photo from Chicago: DHS militarized agent holding a gun up directly in someone’s face as the victim has their hands up, pleading for them not to shoot.

It does sound dangerous! I saw a few too many bad motorcycle accidents in Paris to put me off of even trying.

Allies? What allies? This administration keeps shitting on all of the traditional US friends.

EISEN: You've taken stakes in 5 companies now. Are there going to be more?

BESSENT: I wouldn't be surprised. When we get an announcement like this week with China on rare earths, you realize we have to be self-sufficient or we have to be sufficient with our allies

now I’m not a fancy big city lawyer, but I reckon this should be a slam dunk First Amendment case

A South African national mocked Americans grieving the loss of Kirk, saying "they're hurt that the racist rally ended in attempted martyrdom" and alleging "he was used to astroturf a movement of white nationalist trailer trash."

Neanderthals can't have their cake & eat it... This weekend they went openly anti-black racist & now they're hurt that the racist rally ended in attempted martyrdom? Charlie Kirk won't be remembered as a hero. He was used to astroturf a movement of white nationalist trailer trash!

I vaguely recall seeing something about over production during covid then cost increases that drove many out of business. It may take some time to return to normal.

I hope he has to pay penalties for the hiding games but maybe that's not possible. He's so slimy.

Here it seemed to start maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago. Bio eggs have been hit the most.

I don't care for Newsom but his social media team has their moments.

The few friends here with cars pretty much are the same. They use the car to visit their holiday home but rarely drive in Paris. Public transport is easy and cheap compared to similar global cities and much less stress.
chrisinparis.bsky.social
I definitely see fewer around up here and prices are higher.
chrisinparis.bsky.social
They're terrible too! When people drive in a new surrounding, it's always bad. I used to drive down south and stopped for a number of reasons and wish more would do the same.

Whenever I see non-75 plates in Paris, I always know irregular and dangerous driving is about to happen. Paris drivers suck but when people aren't used to Paris, it's so dangerous. My worst experiences as a pedestrian or cyclist have always been with non Paris drivers. The RATP is cheap and good.
chrisinparis.bsky.social
Lots of mystical thinking by The Times. These policies are popular and driving in Paris is a miserable experience that people don't miss. Even if you can go anywhere, finding a parking space was always misery.
chrisinparis.bsky.social
Car ownership in Paris peaked a few decades ago, somewhere above 40%. It's closer to 30% now and every year it drops. More people prefer to walk, cycle or use the bus/metro. It's laughable to think this is serious for anyone other than chumps who read the Murdoch media.

Probably Rachida Dati, while she was working for Renault as an illegal consultant.
chrisinparis.bsky.social
Outside of the boring 7th (with a shady mayor on the payroll of Renault) and the boring 16th, removing cars in Paris and being more bike and pedestrian friendly has plenty of support. The Times probably spoke to one of the mayors of those districts for this ridiculous article.
chrisinparis.bsky.social
Yeah but who knows more about Parisians between deputy mayor David Belliard and the Rupert Murdoch writers in London at The times?
chrisinparis.bsky.social
This is fucking priceless! Yes, we're all hiding underground in fear of parking fines and tow trucks, provided you ignore the reality that Parisians strongly support higher SUV parking fees and removing cars from the city.

The Murdoch media delivers again.

Also, many professionals already had to work beyond 62 for full retirement due to being in school longer. The system needs change but a more balanced approach would have been better instead of forcing pain on some people and leaving others (the super rich) untouched.
chrisinparis.bsky.social
Many understand the issue and even support the change, though they expected more balance. The unemployment rate in France is considerably higher for French workers over 50 (even worse over 60) compared to the UK and nothing was done to address that.
chrisinparis.bsky.social
Ouch, that's a lot! I remembered hearing it was expensive but thought closer to 200€ so I was way off.
