In THE DOUBLE VICE, the known antagonist is an anti-vicer named Walter Muller. A mix of the anti-gay bigots I grew up with and the German villains in Indiana Jones. He is best reflected in the line: “And yet, so much had not changed. Hate, for one. Fear, for another.”
