Grizzlies injury report for tomorrow night in Phoenix. A Vince Williams upgrade and a Draymond Green flagrant aftermath.
Good first half in Grizz-Dubs. Good offensive execution from Grizzlies, though JJJ's been oddly uninvolved (1 FGA) and week first-half 3-point shooting continues. Through four games, Grizzlies are 19-78 (24%) from 3 in first halves. They've been better than 40% in second halves.
I know the Grizzlies are still in data-gathering mode with lineups, but not sure I need to see Morant-Spencer-Wells-Jitty-Landale again. Maybe get at least one plus athlete out there with Ja.
ICYMI: Only three games into his NBA career, Cedric Coward is already trying our patience.

Memphis Grizzlies rookie Cedric Coward’s weekend breakout game echoes some lofty company. Plus, four other things Chris Herrington liked from the Grizzlies last week.

Landale’s catches were a real Grizzlies hive-mind moment.

No need to be in a hurry on that. See how things shake out in a few weeks.
This is the first guy I mentioned when it became clear they’d be in line for an exception. Was probably the best free agent big in Summer League, but not 2-way eligible. Has been a good rebounder and defensive playmaker in limited minutes.
The Memphis Grizzlies are planning to sign center Charles Bassey via hardship exception, sources tell ESPN. Grizzlies currently have Ty Jerome, Scotty Pippen Jr., Brandon Clarke and Zach Edey sidelined for extended periods, clearing way for a 10-day hardship signing.
Coward is 4-4 from 3 and just went bully-ball to get to 20. This kid ...
Ja with two fancy dimes in a row then a behind-the-head whip that just missed. Up to 7 assists. He's playing loose right now, playing with some of the team's (league's?) weakest athletes. And now coming out. I get the quick subs, but don't love bringing him out when he's cooking.
Grizzlies first-quarter 3-point shooting through three games: 5-29 (17%).
Grizzlies giving Jitty early run because they want to win this game.
Grizzlies get a team missing it's top *three* lead guards without Haliburton, Nembhard or McConnell. Also staring James Wiseman at center.
Jay Huff and Santi Aldama discussing who will have more reverse dunks tonight.
Tankathon is now updating for current standings, which is meaningless at this point of the season but does offer an illustration of how theoretically complex the Grizzlies pick situation actually is.
I love Chicago more every day.
It's hard to overstate how fully engaged Chicago and the surrounding suburbs are in this ICE madness. There are neighborhood watch alerts, spontaneous crowds gathering outside schools at pick up & drop off plus madly blowing whistles and honking car horns, this city is fighting back and hard.
Probably one of the worst halves ever for Grizzlies, down 86-47. Heat are shooting 63% from 3 to 16% for Grizzlies. Grizz with more than twice as many turnovers. JJJ with four fouls. A 12-man rotation in the first quarter with five players out to injury, four who would have been in any rotation.
Ja Morant called for a foul as he and Jaren Jackson Jr. both contest Bam Adebayo. He looks upset at first and then assesses the situation.

Ja to the ref: “I’ll take it. I didn’t foul him though.”
Grizzlies Game Day

Four things on Grizz-Heat

🏀Bam/Mitchell are good defenders for Trip/Ja (if Ja plays)
🏀Can KCP/Wells slow down Powell (28 in opener)?
🏀Will Ware’s athleticism exploit Grizz center probs?
🏀Grizz need better Aldama
Some of this Wemby stuff last night looks like a Dr. J/Kareen hybrid, but 7-5. All bets are off.
