YouTube shorts upscale consequences: Youtube may still keep the unedited files (and feed them into Google's AI models) while competitors who'd scrape them can't feed into their models.

Maybe YouTube could even apply ~Nightshade at scale.

Maybe this is a move about building a moat.

Maybe a crucial point for humanity's story with AI is asking "why should this exist" where the only reliable answer is "because it wants to".

Considering humanity's needs is means, not the goal.

We're looking at misalignment.

Maybe the bet is that long-term, this plan will look more appealing as the parties get more exhausted. That the political support will form, especially in UA military, as troops grow tired.

But even in that case... a blank slate candidate (or Zaluzhny!) would be more appealing than Arestovich. 3/3

The scheme has some legs, if Putin feels wounded enough to take a pause and Trump feels like he wants to tick his peacemaking checklist at a cost.

But how the hell would Trump replace Zelensky with Arestovich? How would the UA military react? Ukraine won't consent and can't be forced. 2/3

Arestovich is now more explicit about his plan. He has a few problems: Ukraine is in a slightly more sustainable position than it was earlier this year and Putin seems determined to keep going – though under appearances he may be running out of fuel and men, so growing amenable. 1/3

Through a series of steps of situational benefit Arestovich has landed in a position that's at best a strategic dead end and, more interestingly, incoherent & absurd. His biggest bet is that Trump and Russia will achieve some kind of peace that ousts Zelensky; none of that is close to happening. lol
