My guess is that, because the protein is mostly a byproduct from other industrial food processing methods that the vegan ones are more tainted because they naturally have less protein than dairy.
Either way it explains a lot of meathead behaviour

Had an absolutely amazing meal last night which was made even better when I found out it was made by the chef who refused to sell pierogis to Alan Dershowitz this summer.
