It's like the piece @stephenkb.bsky.social linked to earlier where it didn't make sense if you don't know what a glacier is. I don't know what this specific twitter beef is so I don't know what this is meant to say
centristmum.bsky.social
I'm not sure I even understand what it means? Like what is she trying to say?

We did one to a brewery and you could win beers by answering questions correctly at the end. We were probably 16 or 17?

Although wouldn't another approach be to ensure the reading test is written so it makes sense even if you don't know anything about the subject matter (eg glaciers 101 rather than here is a text about a glacier that assumes you know what a glacier is)?

What I'm not clear on here is why the texts would need to be issued in advance via an anthology. Having the unseen text be on a subject they can be expected to know about makes sense but what is the diagnostic benefit to issuing it in advance?

I bet he bloody doesn't and all

Mr Ecuador. Look at how happy he is. This is a chap who is just *thrilled* to be there. Also look at how tiny his feet look peeping out of those giant fluffy trousers.

From 2024: when you're playing international football at three and robbing a bank at half four

#Croatia Oh honey, what... what is going on here? I'm sure the whole mask thing is some reference that I don't understand, and that's fine, but what's with the football strip with the sparkly squares literally peeling off? Who actually let you walk out like that? Bless him.

This thread is INCREDIBLE. Don't stop scrolling before you get to Laos.

You know what, let's do the Annual Mister Global National Costume thread tonight after all. Usual rules apply - this is all in fun, this isn't about the contestants looks or making fun of them, it's about the costumes and appreciating them (or, you know, making fun of them...)

Even Theresa May only did the same thing three times. Do you think we should lend them Kit Malthouse so they can negotiate a compromise with themselves?

The problem with this is that if the MP doesn't help there's nowhere else the constituent can go, which is perhaps even more true than it was ten years ago. IMV we just need to accept it and give MPs bigger offices so they can do both properly.

Also a lot of people are parents and those people see teachers regularly and the teachers don't usually look like frothing marxists

I had a tesco delivery of loads of party food a little while ago and the tesco man was telling me not to worry, my basket wasn't that weird and I wouldn't believe what he saw sometimes. And anyway I now have questions.

Except diet coke. Love diet coke.

I just prefer to know what I'm eating and I'd rather have a smaller amount of full fat full sugar whatever than a big amount of fake low fat low sugar stuff

In general though I think this country has plenty of space to both build more homes and protect national parks

This was my thought but I wonder if it's a Brighton-specific measure because AIUI Brighton is quite tight against the South Downs?!

One thing you need to know as a future parent is that if you're ever in a soft play with a hangover, a slushie and a coffee will sort you right out
centristmum.bsky.social
I just thought they were like, sugar high might rot teeth unhealthy, not hospital unhealthy
centristmum.bsky.social
I was just typing this, I don't think any parent is buying their kids slushies because there's a lower sugar content, no one thinks slushies are a healthy option, like, look at them, they're very obviously not healthy!
