It was clever to use body horror to attack the obsession with a women’s appearance, and all the exaggerated fantasies around it. The grotesque special effects are so over the top that you laugh in the recognition of the absurdity & degradation of the entire spectacle.

One is simply anti-fascist. A very, very general position that spans from the far Left to the monarchist (in Europe; see Umberto Eco) and Neocon (in the US) Right. And it is only a descriptive term.

I finally became weary from his style midway through the third of his books I read (Shadow Over Innsmouth). Lots of vagueness and repetition. I agree the mythos has inspired some good stuff.

I can’t help but think today about how many young people were savaged on social media, branded as anti-semites and abandoned by their schools for daring to call for a ceasefire. I remember saying that it was the first time I can remember that calling for ceasefire was regarded as a hostile demand.
