Hello Bluesky! I've had this account for a year now, so I guess it's time I said hi?
This is me, Kfir. AKA Cave. I make fantasy maps on leather, paint minis, play D&D, am an avid Tolkien fan, a caveman, and a geek. I also stream my art, and games, on twitch almost daily.
While I don't really do cons anymore, I still attend a couple of small local ones. This weekend I'm a guest at
@multiversecon.bsky.social
in Peachtree City, GA. It's a great little nerdy Con!

Come see me in the dealer hall or on one of the panels I'll be trying not to make a fool of myself on.
Occasionally I still set up at small local events. Come find me at @cryptidcreatives.bsky.social Practical Magic Marketplace in East Atlanta today until 5pm!

As you wish!

Did you know that The Princess Bride film is quite different from the novel? For example, the Shrieking Eels were actually sharks in the book. There are other examples, too. Anyway, when I made the map in 2017, I wanted to make it fit the film more.

Just finished painting this mini, using all of these colors. More than I've ever used on a single miniature before! Better pictures of the mini itself will come soon.

Last but not least on the series of comics covers... the crown jewel: Amazing Spider-Man 100
Still the most technically difficult piece I ever created.
18x24"
The challenge was burning all the nagative spaces instead of the actual lines. #StanLee autographed.

And lastly (for now), we have Wolverine #1, The Dark Knight Returns, Avengers 75 - The Vision, and Spiderman 50.
Though I haven't done one of these in a while, if you'd like to commission a comic cover, I'd be delighted to work on it for you!

Probably the most fun was the Stan Lee Mr. Marvel card from the Marvel Universe Trading Cards (1990). And I ended up getting it signed by Stan himself at Boston Comic Con in 2015. The Killing Joke and Watchmen covers were extremely popular. 2/3

A few more comic covers I did back in the day. These were so challenging to get the 3D relief make sense with the depth of the image, but were still a lot of fun!
Some of these were commissions, and some were just for fun. 1/3

Back in 2015-16, before focusing on maps, I also recreated classic comic covers. These were more challenging to do than maps, believe it or not.
Here's one of my favorites, Batman's Detective Comics #457.
I love this cover! It tells Batman's origin story in a single image!

After spending a ton of money for guaranteed delivery back in March, promises like “it’s en route!” to “we can’t find it” to “we admit we lost it, but we’re gonna argue with you about the insurance you paid for”, it looks like the package has disappeared.

If you see one, please let us know.
If you do see one of @forgeofice.bsky.social 's Black Beast models in the Wild, or maybe on eBay, please let us know! They were the first in existence and to date, the only ones in the world. They've gone *sonewhere*!

I start making replacements Monday.
Zombies are a lot of fun to create in buckskin, since the warping of the hide only makes them look better. Or worse. Depends on how you look at it, I guess. 😅
Bicycle Girl based on Melissa Cowan (who portrayed her). The other zombos recreated from #TWD rear covers (25 and 26), by Cliff Rathburn.
Still in 2015. #TheWalkingDead was 5 years in and a massive phenomenon. I made several related pieces, but "Bicycle Girl" may be my favorite.

You're not alone. Many times that's the first thing anyone comments on. 🤣
Here are some closeups of the map, as well as the tip of the Elven Bow I carved and Mallorn leaves to hang it from.

Keeping up with social media is getting harder these days.
I'll try to do better, promise.

Here's a flashback to 2015 when I not only won the ACBC prop contest w/ my map of Middle-earth, but I also got to meet @soloroboto.bsky.social , @volpinprops.com , and Grant Imahara, RIP.

Why I Bulletproof my shipping, or "A package goes to Italy, via China."

When you order art from me, you might be paying a bit more for shipping, but you can rest assured that it'll get there undamaged (though it might decide to take a detour on the way).
Over the next few years, at Walker Stalker conventions, I met many of the actors and had them autograph the piece, including Scott Wilson, Madison Lintz, Jon Bernthal, Chandler Riggs, Laurie Holden, Emily Kinney, Iron E Singleton and others. It now resides in the home of a good friend!

Next, I built a "barn door" from reclaimed wood and actual antique barn door hinges, and nailed the hide to it with hand-smithed nails.
But... Sophia was still needed in this piece. I commissioned Dark Knite Boutique to sculpt Sophia's eye and hand to be attached to the door from behind.

I wanted to create a tribute to that particular episode. First, the design (not mine, it was something I saw on a Walking Dead t-shirt) was a skull comprised of zombies from the show, on a full deerskin. Zombies are fun to burn on buckskin because the 3D texture makes them look real!

Back to the chronological "art tour"...
In the hayday (2015) of #TheWalkingDead, one of the more impactful, powerful, episodes was "Pretty Much Dead Already", which featured Hershel's Barn and the discovery of young Sophia stumbling out of it as a zombie at the end.

Inspiration struck!
