Good time for an intro!

I write ABOUT #ttrpg at Cannibal Halfling Gaming:

cannibalhalflinggaming.com

And I write games myself - it's statistically likely that there will be a giant robot involved, but it's not *always* the case:

I mean, they’ve got the right idea about those monoliths though.
Heading off tomorrow for a weekend of gaming with the online crew at our annual gathering in realspace, and am a combination of too wired to sleep and just wanting to be at least on the road already gosh darn it.

I have a new game out! Build your map, play on it, and then destroy it as you explore the myths surrounding the surreal landscape of Ireland's Giant's Causeway.

Find out more about Welcome to: The Giant's Causeway here, and happy gaming!

I’ve done it a few times - not very technically gifted, but I might be able to help a bit!

We’re lining up all the things for the launch, and it’s going to be cool. Also hard and sharp and agro and weird.
Oh hey my day job is relevant. There's a lot of talk about them, for sure. But I've seen projects that felt much less precarious fall through. So I'm sitting in meetings and reading emails about work coming up, but. Q4 '25 is already rough in construction, and I think hopes are getting badly pinned.

I don't believe in cursed dice.

But I do believe that D1-C3, the discord dice bot for the narrative dice Star Wars games, is a fickle being who holds grudges and loves chaos.

I love it.

"A thing that I'm really thinking about is the holistic quality of the game. This is a game that, even if you don't ever actually get a group together to play it, it enriches your life and it provides you with meaning and you can sit down with it and engage with it."

The latest batch of books finished and now returned to Thomas Crane Library.

… I only got another four after returning these, I am a PARAGON of restraint.

Torches in Shadowdark running out in real time? Using too many Bullets triggering a personal session in Cowboy Bebop? Leftovers being used to change the B&B and characters in Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast? Daily powers in 4e D&D? These all allow the game to do what it values with regards to story beats.
I don't think it's universal, like there's a list of such that supports the story always in every game you put it, I think it's whether a mechanic/system helps the game that it's in enable the experience that the game wants to tell.

Think of all the ways people in a community react in the presence of that sudden stress. The key is to make sure enough human drama exists so that the weirdness does not become the point. The simple test is to look and see if discovering and destroying the creature resolves all the crises and return things to the status quo. If that's the case, add in more trouble and turmoil among the supporting characters.
