... and Campo Largo Build 1 is live!

Elder Travis Hartley, a deer on his mission in South America, has been entrusted with a new companion in a new town.

He knows who he is and why he's here. He's right on track.

Until... things start happening. Things he can't explain...

Oh, thank you! So glad you liked it :)
campolargo.bsky.social
Oh yeah! That's makes sense!

And it points to subcultural differences, too! "Palms up" as a prayer stance isn't used in LDS contexts; it's generally hands clasped (especially adults) or arms folded (especially children).

I'm glad this scene resonated with you!

I've wondered how people would respond to it — I haven't encountered prayer in the furry VN space, really. There's an unusual intimacy to it.

More @campolargo.bsky.social inspiration. The image of Hartley kneeling in prayer on his last night before relocating is just so beautiful to me. It's rare to see furries in prayer, especially like this, personal, alone, intended only for the self but asking for the strength to help others.

Fan art of Elder Hartley and Elder Suarez from visual novel Campo Largo by @toledo.bsky.social . I liked the character designs and wanted to try drawing them in my style- along with the animals they are based on.

And today I've figured out how to do an interesting visual effect for Route 4! :D
campolargo.bsky.social
After a couple weeks recovering from a busy couple months, I've done a little bit more work!

This weekend, I've completed and added two new illustrations (for Routes 1 and 2). Spoilers, so I can't share them here ;)

Incidentally, too, the next town down from Campo Largo is actually named...

...Corzuela!

And the town's entry features this little grouping of sculptures:

Got inspired by the new visual novel from @toledo.bsky.social

Oh hey, we passed 300 downloads a couple days back -- and we've hit 300 followers here! :D

(Also I've shared the present release with a couple RL friends and family. It's interesting to get their reflections!)

Mmhm!

Incidentally, one of the best articles about the historical evolution of these terms in the LDS context is by a guy named... Hartley!

XD

(William G. Hartley, "Ordained and Acting Teachers in the Lesser Priesthood, 1851-1883", BYU Studies Vol 16 Issue 3)

Indeed, haha! One example of Mormons interpreting New Testament language in a certain way (titles as "offices" in two priesthoods) and those interpretations evolving so much as to be nearly unrecognizable.

That said, Joseph Smith's first title in the church was "First Elder" — at age 24!

I encountered someone expressing surprise that Elder Hartley is 19!

But here's context: until 2012, the _normative_ age when a young man would start his mission was... 19.

Since 2012, it's been... 18.

(For women, it was 21 and is now 19.)

This week two years ago I finished the full text draft of the VN!

Currently taking a bit of a break myself (real life has been very busy!), but really appreciating folks' engagement with the story so far!

Let us introduce you to 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗕𝗨𝗖𝗞, the deer-themed November game jam. It's always been about deer, hasn't it?

A very similar looking deer and bear point at each other, referencing that one Spiderman meme. Subtitles say "That man's an imposter!"

I overextended myself over the past month (travel, work, CL release, other events) and, in the last week, it's caught up to me: fatigue and headaches.

Just a matter of letting myself rest as much as I can to recover.

(And not feeling bad about that.)
