So if the Supreme Court guts Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, that could guarantee the GOP's ability to govern under minority rule for basically decades. Is it really that bad? Can someone talk me off the ledge?

They sincerely think we're all paid. It's amazing.
resnikoff.bsky.social
Republican officials have spent years psy-oping themselves into thinking that there are no sincere, good faith liberals or progressives anywhere in America. So no wonder they're totally unequipped to deal with a large crowd of normal people waving American flags.

'It is also weighing ways to cash in on its intellectual property'

Oh that is rich given how it's cashed in on other people's intellectual property for years...

Greg Bovino, Kristi Noem, and DHS need to answer for their unchecked attacks on Chicago residents.

ICE is an out-of-control danger to our peaceful communities.

The images from the Sun-Times today speak for themselves.

The goal isn't to make money. It's to control information.

Yep. I was a skeptic initially and I'm still concerned about the city eating him alive while he's in power, but he's really impressed me.

we’ll see how his mayoral tenure shakes out but i am convinced that Mamdani has the juice. not just the charisma to win an election but the temperament to govern and the measured pragmatism of someone who genuinely believes what they’re saying and wants to accomplish real things.

When I visited Russia, I asked our tour guide, who was a fan of 'The Americans,' what the locals thought of the actors' attempts at speaking Russian and he said it was a massive joke because they sounded so bad.

If Netanyahu hadn't fucked up by bombing the country that gave Trump a luxury jet, the war would likely still be going on.

When this is over, Portland needs to be the new Nuremberg.

In Portland, an ambulance was summoned to the ICE office to treat an injured protester (not clear how he was injured). But when the patient was loaded inside, ICE officers refused to let the ambulance leave and threatened to shoot the ambulance driver: www.wweek.com/news/2025/10...
Documents Allege a Federal Agent at Portland ICE Threatened to Shoot an Ambulance Driver
Feds delayed medics who had come to pick up an injured protester. Then, according to confidential incident reports, the agents became aggressive.

And look: I'm normally a guy who thinks we should judge historical figures on a curve, which is why I have a soft spot for the likes of James Madison and Thomas Jefferson despite the fact that they were slave owners. But Columbus? Nope pure scumbag.
bwreed.bsky.social
He was dragged back to Spain in chains because his own people accused him of acting like a sadistic despot. Honestly the heroic image of him is pure fiction.
thenation.com
These days most people know that Christopher Columbus was a genocidaire and that celebrating him is a disgrace. But did you know that he was also mediocre sailor nearly forgotten to history? @edburmila.bsky.social explained the Columbus myth back in 2017. www.thenation.com/article/soci...

Honestly I'm a young Xer and I think those of us who grew up in a pre-MAGA period are just fucking horrified by the thought of the military in our streets. America had problems when we were growing up but something like that was just impossible to imagine.

I never agreed with Fetterman on everything but he didn't used to be social media brain-poisoned like he is today.

I don't think Platner is another Fetterman. Hell, I don't think the pre-stroke Fetterman of 2022 was the Fetterman of today.

My problem with Bari isn't that she's a woman entrepreneur, it's that she is habitually dishonest and self-aggrandizing, two traits I find objectionable in anyone.
bwreed.bsky.social
He's right here. Running against Mills will be good for Platner. It will help him understand potential weaknesses he has in a match up against Collins.
lakshya.splitticket.org
Graham Platner is a very high-ceiling candidate in Maine with a lot of potential. He's also extremely untested and while he looks promising for Democrats, it's pretty important to have a primary here to see if there are any red flags that bubble up.

Just let it go and log off.
