Seth Walker's life is complicated for a young boy in Memphis. He lost his mother at six, his father is seldom home, his grandmother has Alzheimers, and his three best friends, the Tinker boys who live next door, are constantly inventing new ways for them all to get into trouble.

The last thing Seth wants to do on his final days of summer is visit his Grandfather Walker in Egypt. Seth’s world is turned upside down when he accidentally tumbles into the tomb of the man his grandfather has been obsessed with finding for over forty years: Imhotep, the architect of the Step Pyramid near an ancient city also called Memphis.

Finding not only the tomb, but the lingering ghost of Imhotep as well, Seth sets out on an adventure that will take him around the world and to the brink of death in order to complete Imhotep's mission: Destroy an ancient technological device of immense power, or risk the destruction of planet Earth.
