We owned 2 houses in 2001. Our combined monthly PITI payments for both houses was less than half of this proposed monthly health insurance premium.

Incorrect. This increase in premiums is due to the "Big Beautiful Bill" not extending enhanced ACA subsidies.
Yeah, it was no bargain even at $333/month.

It's basically a catastrophic plan at this point.
My wife is fluent in Spanish, I can muddle my way through. "Pensioners visa" is a topic of discussion in our family in regards to Central and South American countries. Definitely an option for us. We were thinking about it before this all happened, so we're considering it even more seriously now. 😁

Here's the same letter we received in October, 2024 regarding 2025's premiums. You'll notice the difference from this year's letter.
The Big Beautiful Bill did away with the enhanced ACA subsidies. So at our current income,as I understand it, there will be no financial assistance for us.
