the film choice is a surprise
brokenbanker.bsky.social
saw it on a big screen on a Monday night with a mate. came out in silence, went to the pub, drank a pint in silence. went home. properly harrowing stuff, and really hard work by the end. if it was thinking about a really bad film, then would go with @kentindell.bsky.social choice of Gladiator II

“Introduce yourself using only one food you refuse to eat, one movie you’ll never watch again, and one song you can’t stand”

Courgette - the Devil's vegetable, sickening in any form.

Requiem for a Dream - once seen, never forgotten.

Guns 'n' Roses - all of it. just shit.

Cauliflower -I've become more tolerant of other breeds of brassica, but no.

Come and See - for obvs reasons.

Crass -Reality Asylum (from the Rough Trade 25 years comp CDs)

Courgette - cannot stomach the texture, like eating rotten cucumber

Is Threads a film?

“Clint Eastwood” - to you the flimsy Steve tweet is a funny joke, to me it’s a war crime indictment

'the fresh fizz of ideas' does not sound anywhere near sneery enough for the other one

it is indeed a lovely part of the world in some ways, I can see why a lot of people like it. bit flat for my liking, mind you 😀

have a very close family member who lives there. we do not discuss politics.

tbf, while the good people of South West Norfolk may pursue lifestyles some consider 'unusual', they did have the good sense ultimately to boot Liz Truss into touch. the people of West Suffolk, not so much. voting for Nick Timothy after being freed of the Matt Hancock yolk shows they learnt nothing.

'they're trying to control our thoughts ! just like they did with Covid !' etc. we know how that episode broke some supposedly serious people's brains; what's concerning for me is that even partial normalisation has not been met with some re-appraisal of 'yeah, things got away from me a bit there'

one of the most successful pub discussions I'v ever had was to tell a chess fanatic mate, that it's a game not a sport. now that was extremely successful as a 'belief'. he went nuts 😀

Marcus Fysh would definitely have been a turnip shepherd

I have many beliefs, but none of them are faith based. tend to go more for the classic 'unprovable' opinions, such as Disco >>> Rock. far more fun to be had with that down the pub, or indeed on here.

UK reporting shows another provision for #LLOY.L Lloyds of £800mn, a new £1bn contract for #COST.L Costain and some weakness vs expectations for #OXIG.L Oxford Instruments. lots of US data won't be reported, but lots of US financials earnings will be:

think we all knew Trump would TACO, only question was how long it would take. this was a particularly fast rollover even by his standards. can see the initial bounce on the open is already starting to roll though, expect the rest of the month to remain volatile until the next 'deadline' on Nov 1.

yep, ETH and BTC I can see are accepted for payments by some counterparties. from my perspective though: the vast majority of coins (and all sh💩tcoins) are backed by nothing, offer no yield & cashflows, and are too volatile to be anything other than gambling. have fun, but not for me.

'have you ever been savaged by a feral hedgehog ?'

'no, and nor has anyone else. get a bloody grip'

the Aussies unfortunately, but it'll be competitive. England are yet to play Australia and India...
