We’ve had the same debate in Europe, and people tend to by hybrids before converting to EVs. Here the shift is happening. In China 50% of all new sold cars are EVs.

EVs don’t really “lose charge while parked” in any meaningful way — only a fraction of a percent per day from battery management or features like Sentry Mode. Modern EVs (Tesla 3 LR, Ioniq 6, Lucid Air) go 500–800 km on a charge, so range isn’t the issue anymore.
