Question about past events in #TheArchers? Written summaries of almost all episodes from July 1996 to August 2018 can be found at thearchersarchives.org.uk. Unlike the official BBC summaries, they are fully & easily searchable.

I suppose so, but I think that's unlikely. #TheArchers

A random thought I had earlier. I wonder if George knows about Clive's horse slashing activities? Given his devotion to Bartleby, I can't think he'd be so enamoured of Clive if he knew. Someone should tell him. #TheArchers

what a sponge and scrounger, like his uncle Clive. #TheArchers
brendaselwyn.bsky.social
Or great-uncle Alf? I tend to associate Clive more with extortion, intimidation & violence than scrounging. #TheArchers

So, supposing Meadow Farm is destined to become a tenanted farm (owned by either Esme Mulligan or Justin Elliot). Possible tenants:
Akram
Josh
Rex
Stella
A completely new character.

Anyone I've missed?
Will there be a bidding war?

I think there are already more than enough characters for the listeners or the SWs to cope with 😄. And most of them are not in Ambridge. However, a new tenanted farm would be good. #TheArchers

Yes, quite a few Duchy of Cornwall farms in this area (North East Somerset).
The Berrow Estate & the Lower Loxley Estate both have tenant farmers, but we don't get to hear about them. #TheArchers

I think they rent land from various people. And again, not a conventional tenanted farm. #TheArchers
brendaselwyn.bsky.social
My thinking also. Since Pat & Tony bought Bridge Farm, we haven't had a conventional tenanted farm featured in #TheArchers

That's sad. Ours were all pre-Covid. Part of the delay with both was selling their houses.
The first problem with Dad was tracking down the executors, who fortunately were happy for me to act instead. Then I had to locate the original will (I had a copy); it was on a business park in Wallsend 🙄

Then there was an error in the estate accounts, which fortunately OH's brother spotted. Part of the delay was the time it took to sell the house, but as I recall, the main problem was they simply didn't do anything unless someone chased them.

As I'm sure you're aware, retirement doesn't mean being on the scrap heap. The voluntary sector would probably collapse without retired people. Oliver's trouble is he appears not to have anything else in his life. What are his interests, other than killing wildlife? #TheArchers

My Dad's simple estate took over a year, but that was because I did it myself while working full-time.
My father-in-law's more complex one (but not *that* complex) was done by solicitors & took nearly 3 years. That was partly why I did Dad's myself, I was hacked off with solicitors at that point.

By even greater coincidence, both of OH's grandmothers died on 5th April (nearly 3 decades apart), which I always thought was most convenient of them.

Jim Lloyd's wasn't a success 😬☹️. I hope Zainab doesn't consider making it a surprise party, or if she does, someone puts her off. #TheArchers

David definitely said 120 acres.

Where does the 1/3 figure come from? Both The Book of The Archers & #TheArchers Encyclopedia only say 30 acres. They don't give a proportion.
brendaselwyn.bsky.social
It was 120 acres.

Stella won't buy it, she & Pip will be taking over Brookfield on the 75th anniversary of #TheArchers, now David is worried about dying with his boots on.

Semi-related question. Probate often takes a long time. I assume the tax rules applied are the ones at the time of death?

I suspect Amber may not carry cash. "Lend me your phone so I can pay" would work instead, I guess. #TheArchers
brendaselwyn.bsky.social
So it seems. Guy Pemberton was 24 years older than her. #TheArchers

I think, in Clarrie's case at least, there's a worry that if he became estranged from his family, his behaviour would get worse. #TheArchers
brendaselwyn.bsky.social
I missed that. A follow-up to "Brian's the gammon". Are the SWs having some sort of competition? #TheArchers

We didn't know Oliver's birth date before. It turns out he was 10 years older than Caroline. #TheArchers

Late to #TheArchers this evening as I was out seeing Al Stewart at the Bristol Beacon. This is his Farewell Tour. He was 80 in September. Oliver Stirling might be interested 🙂

Agreed. But Clarrie & Eddie should have gently confirmed that, as he thought, he had said the wrong thing, rather than saying it was all fine. Otherwise, how can he learn? #TheArchers

Azra wouldn't give up her job. They would need her salary. #TheArchers
