By definition, they are already legally obligated to act within the bounds of the law. What we need is actual enforcement to hold those violators accountable.

Is this another example of the Trump administration publicly announcing something that was supposed to be a secret, or just another example of a story that got leaked due to a poorly managed group chat?

That freaking bigot ALWAYS reserves the "low IQ" insult for Black people.

The fact that Jefferson clearly recognized the evil that was chattel slavery makes his personal conduct even WORSE, not better. He knew that what he was doing was a crime against humanity and he kept doing it anyway.

Given how frequently Republicans make the "PrOgreSsiVes aRe thE rEal NaZis!" claim you'd think they'd be able to point to at least ONE self-described progressive who turned out to be a closet Nazi, but nope. Every single damn time.

"Slept with" is an overly polite euphemism. Let's call it what it was/is: child rape.
brainspore.bsky.social
Boy, it's always exactly the ones you'd expect.

Anyone who doesn't remember Thomas Jefferson being an asshole either has a terrible memory or got a WOEFULLY inadequate history education.

The man raped at least one enslaved child and sold his own illegitimate children into bondage. That's not just "asshole" behavior, it's incomprehensibly evil.

Crypto is a scam from top to bottom and the US Government has no place in encouraging investment in it. Ditto the AI bubble.

Didn’t the blue-haired furry guy end up getting appointed to the President’s cabinet in “X-Men 3”?

They’ve been unironically saying the same thing about billionaires. As if it genuinely never occurred to them that it is possible to create an economic system that doesn’t depend on the largesse of a handful of ultra-powerful people.

Pretty sure “we’ll have no more paychecks!” wasn’t the takeaway from that Schoolhouse Rock song about “No More Kings.”
atrupar.com
Bessent: "This crazy No Kings rally this weekend, which is gonna be the farthest left, the hardest core, the most unhinged in the Democratic Party, which is a big title. No Kings equals no paychecks."

Kermit: "Just because I'm dating a pig doesn't make me pro-cop!"

Why is it that the Democrats are always painted as the only group that has agency?

If people vote for the racist, homophobic, corrupt, incompetent fascists it’s never the Republicans or the voters who are to blame, it’s the Democrats who failed to stop them.

Nuts to that.
brainspore.bsky.social
The Democrats may not be great on campaign financing, media ownership, or various forms of corruption but the other side is objectively far worse.

No one who was genuinely concerned about any of those issues would vote Republican unless they were *profoundly* stupid.

Where can we see "Rajas and the Wolf Girl"?
brainspore.bsky.social
Even FOX knows that Trump won't be President forever, and they want to make sure they still have the freedom to go after the next Democratic administration.
brainspore.bsky.social
They should have designed the game in such a way that if your character dies, the game goes black and you can never play it again. Like how combat works in the real Army.
brainspore.bsky.social
Maybe they have just enough self-awareness to realize that Trump won't be President forever, and if they sign an agreement that turns them into a propaganda arm of the Executive branch then they will eventually be carrying water for some Democratic administration instead of the current guy.

Honestly that’s probably giving Bezos too much credit. Just because he wanted to controls the media narrative doesn’t mean he wanted the paper gone entirely, just as Musk didn’t really want Twitter gone entirely.

These people really are just as bad at running things as they appear to be.

This is good. I actually subscribed to the Atlantic specifically because they DID publish that story about Hegseth accidentally including them in that Signal chat. If they abided by this new Pentagon directive they wouldn't be worthy of being called "journalists."
radiofreetom.bsky.social
The Atlantic’s journalists will not sign the Pentagon’s press policy. Statement here from editor in chief Jeffrey Goldberg:

I don't think Trump actually believes in heaven and hell because that would imply a belief in a being greater than himself. But for someone egomaniacal and narcissistic as Trump, the prospect of fading into oblivion after death is probably at least as terrifying as the prospect of eternal torment.

Yes and also: take part in public protests, attend city council meetings and town hall meetings and school board meetings. Democracy requires citizen participation at every level.

I believe this was the first time we heard the shark *roar.* Because that’s apparently something an animal that has neither lungs nor vocal cords can do in this kind of movie.
