Life is too short to draw backgrounds in every. freaking. panel.

Once you've established the setting, give yourself the freedom to focus on the foreground, including background elements as needed to understand the scene.#comics #comiclab #webcomics

When Desi taps into the arcane arts to summon a lost soul, she expects fear and obedience. What she doesn’t expect is a ghost who’s just relieved to escape a different kind of purgatory.
A four-panel comic titled "Meanwhile... Desi Conjures a Spirit" shows a red-skinned, devil-like woman named Desi summoning a ghost. In the first panel, Desi sits at a computer desk with glowing mystical symbols floating in front of her as she performs a spell. In the second panel, she holds a small, startled ghost in her hand who exclaims, “Who are you?! Where am I?!” In the third panel, Desi menacingly tells the ghost, “You died and were sent to the Dark Dominion, and now your soul is mine to command!” In the fourth panel, the ghost relaxes and responds, “Oh, thank goodness! I thought I was still on hold with Comcast!”

One of Dracula’s wives kneels before the Count, candlelight glinting off her dark curls and the sharp hint of fang behind a teasing smile. She’s all heaving cleavage and impossible corsetry, a portrait of temptation so practiced it might as well be part of the family business. His cape drapes around her like a velvet curtain about to fall, and the whole room hums with that decadent tension — the moment right before sin gets a name. Somewhere in the shadows, a bat blushes. The mummy has clearly taken a more modern approach to wrapping — or rather, unwrapping — herself. Strips of ancient linen cling for dear life, more decorative than functional, like she got halfway through a tutorial on “mummy chic” and decided to wing it. One, little jack o'lantern emoji is all that stands between you and her nipple, which, goodness knows, the sight of which would surely cause the fall of modern society. So thank you, jack o'lantern emoji, thank you so very much. And if you’ve actually read this far, your treat is waiting: use the code SCAREDST1FF on my Patreon this October to get 25% off your first 30 days.
