I’ve been making these Greek roast potatoes since you first mentioned them. Soooo good.

‘The trees darkened to rust and brown, or paled to topaz yellow, though some lingered, a dull green. Hips and haws reddened in the hedgerows, and on the common and along the lanes the blackberries ripened slowly to the colour of wine, and sloes to slate and indigo blue’ 💙📚 #SusanHill #AutumnReading
The 1989 Penguin edition of Susan Hill’s novel ‘In The Springtime Of The Year’ (1974) - as a testimony to grief, not an easy read, but beautifully lyrical in its evocation of the natural world, and the processes of healing

We rehearsed in a place called Rubber Biscuit in Nottingham. The electric shocks off the guitars kept us at it. Often played December by Teenage Fanclub for upwards of an hour because it was such a vibe. @hackneygirl1972.bsky.social

Now I wish I was having this.

Salmon, whole grain mustard mash, broccoli and french beans.

Might have a glass of vinho verde.

Same. We had no electricity or gas from Sept 79 to May 82. But we had a library card & read - and talked about - Hemingway, Steinbeck, Dickens, Shakespeare, John Ford, Jimmy Cagney. And on . And on. My Dad went down the pit in Arigna in Sligo when he was 13 but he read. He passed it on to us.

One of the great WW2 memoirs. Clear-eyed and and humane.

Pretty nifty, those Alps.

Also it’s so much nicer to come home.
