From Soldotna, one airline is connecting flights and aid to storm-ravaged Western Alaska.

"Everyone kind of puts their part in to help out as much as possible, and so that's what's happening right now," Robert Rey said.

Every hour it feels like we are thrown in a new direction. We are now looking at chartering a plane out to Kipnuk to pick up dogs that need to evacuate as well. With the help of some dedicated teachers who want to make sure these dogs make it we hope we can accomplish this!
We don't know how many times we are going to need to do this. One round trip charter is approx $3,000
As soon as we can get a caravan booked we are going to head out.

This is the Western Alaska animal nonprofit working to rescue the pets in Kipnuk.

The residents of Kipnuk are under a mandatory evac order but can not bring their pets with them. Supporting this group will help with charter aircraft, etc.

Fifteen libraries across Alaska will be gaining access to a large online database of national and in-state news sources thanks to a grant from the Atwood Foundation.

Grant funding will give 15 Alaska libraries free access to many paywalled newspapers
