Some simple statistics:
For the propagandists in Russia and the US who keep lying about how dangerous Europe is, it’s actually much safer than both of those countries
Musk's recent remarks about Hobbits and "hardmen" reminded me of this rather good piece on Tolkien and refugees by someone who actually knows what he is talking about. (Of course rhe richest man in the world doesn't need to know what he is talking about.)

'The Lord of the Rings' is cited as an inspirational text by both friends and foes of asylum seekers, but what does it really say?

Why didn’t his party take “much tougher action” in the 14 years they were in power?
And Russia is pretty relaxed about domestic violence.
The grave of Mildred Elsi Thomas (Elsi Eldridge), painter and wife of R.S. Thomas in Eglwys St Maelrhys Church, Llanfaelrhys:
Dog tongs, once used to remove unruly dogs from the church:
Some pictures from St Beuno's church, Clynnog Fawr. Notice in the second picture that Beuno restored to life someone who had been beheaded. This procedure is not available on the NHS:
Do these journalists know they are talking nonsense? Or do they talk nonsense without realising? It’s pretty appalling either way.
Morning on Ynys Môn. The first picture is where the village football team used to play. Now just grazing for sheep. Sic transit gloria mundi (as Boris Johnson might say):
Loyal servant of a regime that has been brainwashing its subjects to love the leader and hate the neighbours for years (and locking up or murdering those who resist) complains about others being "brainwashed":
Local support act Eve Goodman and Sera. Also very good:
Scots Gaelic singer @juliefowlis.bsky.social and her band in Pontio, Bangor, last night. Very good. (At one point the audience were successfully persuaded to join in the chorus of a Scots Gaelic song.)

Memory of the Second World War and genocidal Nazi crimes is now as distant to Zoomers as memory of trenches at the Somme and Verdun was to my Xennial generation born in the late 1970s and 1980s.

The battle against myths of Nazism can no longer rely on lived experience of its catastrophic realities
Evidently there was an Auschwitz-themed float in a Halloween parade in Pennsylvania.

The float was for a Catholic school, and to their credit the church immediately disavowed it.

Thing is, I don’t think high school kids did this entirely on their own. I’m guessing parents had to be involved.
Why not in one of the hotels that are no longer to be used for asylum seekers?

Today I've been trying to see how little paint I can put on paper but still produce a bird😀. Here's one version.

It's good when anybody defects from Reform, but it is more than a little odd that someone could only just have discovered that Farage and co. are all "rhetoric and slogans". And defecting from Reform to the Tories, who in their current form are only minimally different, seems rather unserious:
Post is by James Buchan who defected from Reform to the Tories in Dartford Council. Pretty damning stuff...
Indeed. Even if you’re relaxed about 2 or 3 of his gruesome features, he’s got plenty more.
Goodwin will probably say it’s false consciousness (or the woke mind virus, which is far right for false consciousness).
