“Another Life” and “Real Love” are my D’Angelo go-tos, and I have loved that man for 30 years. I have been down for him since “Brown Sugar,” but those two cuts from “Black Messiah” slayed me.
I assume you mean, “This Woman’s Work?” If so, that was Maxwell.
D’Angelo is gone and I am not okay.

I was in the middle of college when “Brown Sugar” was released and it changed my musical world. The neo-soul movement defined my early-mid 20s and D’Angelo, for me, was its voice. RIP.

D'Angelo, R&B's reluctant icon, has died at 51
The expressive singer made just three albums, including his 1995 debut, Brown Sugar, but retreated from the public after each. He had been battling cancer, according to a statement from his family.

KBJ’s blunt question today about the Supreme Court’s culture war hypocrisy kind of floored me, because it’s the kind of meta-criticism that we aren’t used to hearing from the justices.

It’s the second day of the term, and things are that dire already. slate.com/news-and-pol...
With One Damning Question, Ketanji Brown Jackson Defined the Supreme Court’s New Term
The justice stripped the veneer of constitutional principle from the court’s latest blatant culture war.

I had a lovely day in Brooklyn. I was especially excited to get this classic shot. :-) #Dumbo
I’m loving this interview with Kamala Harris on The Rachel Maddow Show.

I bet I’ll enjoy her book even more. #107Days
What an absolute beauty.
What a wonderful way to start the day - James Taylor and Carly Simon harmonizing beautifully here.
This makes me feel calm immediately.
I was very excited to contribute to this piece. Thanks, @rodgerdcitron.bsky.social, for the opportunity!

The thing to understand is that district court judges have to follow the law and Supreme Court Justices get to just make up the law.
I would love to see the sign language interpretation of, “But then you stuck your tongue in my . . . .” 😇😂 (Hailee Steinfeld delivered the heck out of that line. Absolutely iconic! 😂)
Awwwww!!!!! So sweet!!!! ❤️🙂
It’s important to stand up for yourself. :-)

👀 Have you seen the 2025 Scholastica Law Review Submission Insights report?

Read it here (new stats on journal decision time frames and acceptance rates): buff.ly/JstKJxP #LRSubmissions
Hey.

Stop it now.

You know that cherry picking historical precedents constrains judges better than adhering to something like the choices made by contemporary, democratically elected actors. 🙄🤪
In constitutional litigation based on equal protection, there are times when the government doesn’t have to justify its actions based on what it REALLY wanted to achieve, but rather, can do so based on any plausible justification that might theoretically make sense.
What is common knowledge in your field, but shocks outsiders?

Congressional offices are each handed (roughly) the same amount of money and told to staff up however they want. There are some “standard” models (which result in shit wages and worse expertise) but some offices get creative with it.

Most illicit drugs cost pennies per dose to manufacture. Prohibition is basically a price support for drug traffickers. We will never make drugs disappear by making them astronomically more valuable. Regulation is the alternative.
Right. Like, it *should* be. But our Supreme Court overlords said, “Nah.”
If you, like I did, grew up on “Moments in Love,” and you also never saw a picture of the members of Art of Noise, this is as surprising as the day we learned about Bobby Caldwell. Huh.
